Wits Emerging Leader Programme closes intake next week

Students at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) have one week left to sign up for the Emerging Leader Programme (ELP) before its intake closes.

After 10th June students will no longer be able to access this programme. For those who do want to apply Wits provides this link and a description of what it has in store:

“The Emerging Leaders Programme (ELP) is aimed at students leading in different spaces in and outside the university, who identify themselves as individuals with leadership capabilities and have further aspirations to lead in various capacities in and outside the university context. ELP provides a platform for students to explore how to create and drive impact using design thinking, in order to foster an innovative approach to leadership and develop leaders who demonstrate a citizenship mindset,” an overview reads.

Wits writes that the programme will teach applicants how to lead through purpose, action, strategic thinking and design thinking.

By all accounts it sounds like a worthwhile endeavour for those with an eye on leadership positions in university and outside of it, though student should take note of the time investment required and the other important dates.

“The Emerging Leaders Programme, has been operational since 2007, and since its inception has contributed to shaping over 700 students who have gone on to be leaders in prominent fields after they have graduated from Wits University. For 2022, ELP will be a three month programme, apply by 10 June 2022 to join the the first phase of the programme, the Winter Leadership Camp, taking place from 6-10 July 2022,” continues a description of the programme.
