AMD’s next CPUs leaked by AMD

PC builders looking at an upgrade in the not so distant future will be pleased to learn that, thanks to a leak, AMD’s next generation of CPUs has been revealed.

The leak comes from none other than AMD itself. Thanks to somebody tagging Ryzen 7000 CPUs alongside Ryzen PRO CPUs, we now know of four CPU variants Team Red will be releasing.

The information was quickly removed but not before it was spotted by Videocardz which saw evidence of four CPUs namely:

  • Ryzen 9 7950X
  • Ryzen 9 7900X
  • Ryzen 7 7700X
  • Ryzen 5 7600X

You may spot a lack of Ryzen 3 CPUs, the entry point of the range, but this isn’t especially unusual. Component manufacturers often market the products which will drive enthusiasts to the stores and to our mind, the CPUs likely suit a broad range of PC gamers.

However, according to a report from Engadget, it appears as if those still using AM4 motherboards will need to upgrade to AM5 compatible boards. Whether AMD will offer backwards compatibility is unclear as Ryzen 7000 is likely going to offer support for DDR5, PCIe 5.0 and other tech that AM4 boards just simply don’t have support for.

As for when these Ryzen 7000 chips will become available, your guess is as good as ours. While we would hope that these chips will launch toward the end of the year, any sort of indication on our part would be pure speculation.

The addition of these CPUs to the website by accident however could indicate that AMD is preparing a launch at the very least an announcement soon. We will be sure to keep our ears to the ground for more information as and when it comes to light.
