HMD Global adds refreshed feature phones and new tablet to Nokia lineup

This week HMD Global has announced a number of new Nokia devices. Interestingly none of them are flagship offerings, but rather look to tap into the feature phone and affordable tablet markets respectively.

To that end, HMD Global has revealed three features phones – the Nokia 8210 4G, Nokia 2660 Flip and Nokia 5710 XpressAudio – as well as its latest tablet in the form of the Nokia T10.

“As a leader in the $1 billion feature phone market in 2022, HMD Global’s new feature phone launches cement the Nokia phone legacy of unbeaten durability and battery life,” adds the company in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“The latest portfolio additions reaffirm HMD Global’s commitment to ensuring everyone has access to affordable and long-lasting technology in both the phone and tablet categories,” it adds.

So what’s on offer from each of the new devices?

Starting with the feature phones and the 8210 4G, which is a reimagining of the device the company debuted back in 1999. This new iteration supports 4G connectivity, as the name suggests, as well as VoLTE functionality and a 2.8″ display.

Next the 2660 Flip, which like the 2720 Flip we reviewed, is designed for older users in mind. “The dedicated emergency button provides peace of mind by allowing quick contact with your loved ones. In case the unexpected happens, five contacts will be notified, so they can ensure help is on the way,” adds HMD.

The third feature phone is utilising a bit of a gimmick and a nod to the XpressMusic devices of a couple of decades ago. Here the 5710 XpressAudio has a pair of slots to house two wireless earphones. “When not in use, earbuds are housed beneath a sleek slider on the back of the phone, so you always know where they are and charged,” notes HMD.

As for the T10 tablet, it is a more affordable option of the T20 model that we recently reviewed.

“Small but mighty, the newest Nokia tablet is durable inside and out. Its unibody polymer design and nano-textured finish hide scratches so it looks almost as good as new when you pass it down to a family member or friend. Inside, the latest Android 12 software, two years of guaranteed Android upgrades, and three years of monthly security updates (twice as many as the competition) future-proof the device,” highlights the firm.

At the time of writing, no local pricing or availability have been detailed for the three new feature phones and tablet, but HMD Global will likely share those details in the coming weeks.
