Lightyear heads to Disney+ in just 2 weeks

Those who want to watch Lightyear at home will not have to wait long as the movie will launch on Disney+ on 3rd August.

That’s just two weeks away at the time of publication and represents another quick turnaround from theatre release to streaming as the movie first launched in cinemas on 17th June.

The last big Disney movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, similarly had a short time out in the wild as it was released in cinemas on 6th May and then available on Disney+ from 22nd June.

Like Multiverse of Madness, Lightyear will still be showing in South African theatres when it arrives on streaming creating an odd situation where local viewers can choose where to watch.

To mark the occasion of Lightyear coming to the small screen we also have a new “spot” to watch in the embed below which doesn’t show anything new.

“We devoted years of our lives to this film and we are so proud of it. We want to share it with as many people as possible. Disney+ not only gives more fans an opportunity to see ‘Lightyear,’” reads a quote from director Angus MacLane in a press release we received.

With Pixar’s latest arriving soon we have to assume that this is the new normal for Disney movies. Right now Thor: Love and Thunder is the biggest Disney title available and it launched on 6th July so when could we see it on Disney+?

Both Lightyear and Multiverse of Madness took exactly 47 days to make the move so it’s easy to assume that Love and Thunder will do the same and become available from 22nd August.

This is, of course, an educated guess from our end as Disney has not said anything about Love and Thunder and Disney+ just yet.
