Nedbank will add 84 more locker collection points in 2022

In the before-times of 2019, Nedbank launched locker collection points so that customers could collect things such as cards without having to wait around.

The solution has proved incredibly popular with Nedbank reporting that some 92 000 card parcels have been delivered to 119 locker collection sites around South Africa.

“While safety was the primary concern during Covid-19, today our clients simply appreciate the convenience our lockers provide them, especially in terms of allowing them to use a secure PIN to enable contactless card collection at any time that suits them,” explains Dayalan Govender, managing executive for solution innovation at Nedbank.

Beyond its own lockers, Nedbank has a partnership with DSV Road which adds 400 DSV Public Lockers at fuel station forecourts around the country to the network. Since February of this year, 2 003 card packages have been collected at DSV Public Lockers.

“Replacement card collections are still one of the main reasons why our clients visit a branch so we’re making that process easier for them with these cutting-edge self-service kiosks that can instantly issue replacement Nedbank cards,” writes Govender.

Nedbank is honing in on providing customers with self service options. The financial institution is looking to fast-track development of a self service branch where customers could open an account via a bespoke device and receive a new card immediately.

This account opening functionality is already enabled at 11 branches with a further roll-out planned for the second half of the year. Nedbank is also piloting locker collections for other items like NATIS documents for clients who have settled their vehicle finance agreements.

Plans are also underway to issue Greenbacks Rewards to clients who make use of lockers and self-service kiosks.
