The Dell XPS 13 Plus is now available in SA

If you are familiar with ultrabooks, the Dell XPS 13 range should be a series of notebooks that you are aware of. These devices are usually slim, powerful, feature filled and don’t come cheap.

With the latter half of 2022 well underway now the Dell XPS 13 Plus has landed in South Africa, with the new ultrabook available to purchase from local retailers.

Before we note recommending pricing, let’s quickly highlight why the Dell XPS 13 Plus is different from predecessors, with it taking some of the hallmarks of the XPS series and enhancing them for this new 2022 iteration.

To that end Dell says it is the first XPS 13 designed to a 12th Gen Intel Core 28W processor, which is up from the 15W flavour on the prior generation. On the highest i5-1240P chipset that the notebook can be fitted with, 12 MB cache, 12 cores, 16 threads and up to 4.40 GHz Turbo clocking can be achieved.

Added to this are larger fans that provide 55 percent better airflow without increasing noise or temperature, according to Dell.

Other notable elements include a 13.4″ InfinityEdge display that features extremely narrow bezels and it can be fitted with an OLED panel that delivers 4K+ visuals.

In terms of design, Dell appears to be going for as clean an aesthetic as possible.

“The XPS 13 Plus is designed to be minimalist and modern. The sleek keyboard, function row, touch pad and palm rest deliver a clean, iconic appearance that is light to the touch and complemented by curved, comfy edges throughout,” it highlights in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“There’s no wasted space – the modern, edge-to-edge interfaces simplify the overall design to deliver a clean, harmonious surface,” adds Dell.

As for the pricing, local online retailers should begin selling the Dell XPS 13 Plus this week, with recommended price tags starting from R32 999.
