Xiaomi 12 now available in South Africa, starting at R18k

Back in March, Xiaomi announced a new flagship series of devices with its Xiaomi 12 lineup. At the time local availability and pricing were unknown, but now both elements have been confirmed as the Xiaomi 12 is available to buy in SA today.

The new device should not be confused with the recently unveiled 12S series, which features camera technology from Leica. That said, on paper the Xiaomi 12 looks pretty impressive in its own right.

Add to this the fact that it is recommended to retail from R17 999 and Xiaomi may have another great flagship in its ranks for local Android phone fans.

So what does R18k buy you?

Well this newly available device features a 6.28″ FullHD+ display (2400×1080) up front, with a single punch hole to house a 32MP selfie camera. On the rear a trio of lenses are found, with a 50MP wide-angle option serving as the primary shooter that is paired with a 13MP ultra wide-angle lens and 5MP tele-macro camera.

Shifting away from visuals and focusing on performance, the Xiaomi 12 features a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, along with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Added to this is a 4 500mAh battery that supports up to 67W wired fast charging and 10W wireless reverse charging.

Other notable elements include 5G connectivity, Harman Kardon sound tuning, support for Dolby Atmos and HDR10+ content. There is also three months of free access to YouTube Premium bundled with the phone.

The Xiaomi 12 is being sold in SA in either Blue or Gray colour options.
