ASUS will show off its notebook with a folding display at IFA 2022

Next week Samsung will show off its latest folding smartphones and not to be outdone, ASUS has announced a folding piece of tech of its own.

This tech is a notebook. Okay, so maybe a folding notebook isn’t that special considering they all fold, but this new one from ASUS sports a folding display.

The notebook in question is the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED and ASUS will unveil the notebook at the upcoming IFA 2022 trade show in Berlin, Germany.

For those who can’t be in Germany, ASUS will host a virtual event on 31st August in which it will announce the rollout schedule for this notebook.

What we know about the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED

The ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED sports a 17.3inch display with a 2.5K resolution NanoEdge Dolby Vision. The display is validated by PANTONE and features low-blue light levels certified by TÜV Rheinland.

The display, when folded will measure in at just 12.5inches. While there is mention of a detachable ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard, it’s unclear whether this will be included.

The CPU onboard is a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1250U processor and this is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory. As for storage there is a 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD onboard.

We’re curious to see whether there is any sort of upgradeability as regards the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED but we suspect we will find out more on 31st August.

Looking pricing and availability is an unknown for now, but we’re rather keen to see what ASUS has in store for this notebook and whether it will be arriving in South Africa.
