Schneider Electric offering training courses via Trace Academia app

As we have seen over more than a decade, access to reliable electricity remains an issue in South Africa and the rest of the African continent. In a bid to share skills in this field, as well as provide vital information, Schneider Electric has launched a new freely accessible training course.

Titled Spark Your Interest in Electricity, it is available on both Android and iOS via the Trace Academia app across the African region.

Schneider Electric says the training course provides hands-on training on how to wire electrical equipment safely and responsibly.

It also serves as a precursor to not only safely handling electrical equipment, but also encourages youth in taking the next step – namely enrolling in an electricians or related course – according to Schneider Electric.

“It is a privilege to form part of such a dynamic and impactful founding partnership that works towards one goal: finding sustainable solutions to youth unemployment on the African continent.  With Trace Academia we will endeavour to reach as many youths as we can; providing them with the skills to take those first important steps toward identifying a possible career path in the field of energy,” noted Zanelle Dalglish, director of Sustainable Development & Academy: Anglophone Africa cluster at Schneider Electric.

“Schneider Electric’s partnership with Trace also forms part of a coalition which sees prominent global private, public, and non-profit partners coming together, through the Trace Academia app, to train 26 million African youths by 2026, providing them with the skills they require to find or create work and the opportunities to kickstart their careers,” the company adds in a press release sent to Hypertext.

For anyone interested in trying out the training course via the Trace Academia app, you can download it (25MB) on either Android and iOS, with material freely available to download on your phone.
