Unisa is looking to fill some executive-level positions

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has announced that it has several open positions for executives in its organisation.

The first is rather big in the form of the Executive Dean: College of Education. A PDF has been released with details of the position, revealing that this is a five-year, fixed-term contract with various responsibilities including planning, budgeting, management and more.

“To plan and provide high quality Comprehensive Open Distance e-Learning (CODeL) academic services in the field of Education (inclusive of tuition, learning, research, engaged scholarship and student support) to all the clients/stakeholders/students of Unisa, in accordance with relevant legislation and in alignment with the institution’s Comprehensive Open Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) 2016-2030 strategy,” reads the main outputs and purposes of the position.

A Doctorate is required for applicants, as is some kind of Senior qualification in Professional Education and a decade of experience in the field.

Another open position of high stature is the Executive Dean: College of Accounting Sciences with a similarly descriptive PDF here.

As with the previous job this position requires many qualifications and years of experience to meet the high amount of demands the position would place on an applicant.

Both positions have closing dates of tomorrow, 19th August. We’re not sure why Unisa has decided to share these openings so close to their closing dates, however.

We’re also not sure what is going on with several other jobs that the university claims to be open.

On its websites it claims to show two more vacancies under the executive banner in the form of Deputy Executive Dean: College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and Executive Director: Academic Planning.

The links provided for these positions are all dead ends so applicants can’t really do much with the information provided.

The aforementioned PDFs linked to above were shared on Twitter by the official Unisa account, so it may be best to keep an eye there for updates.
