The Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) has opened applications for its ISPA Inspires Educational Sponsorship, previously known as the ISPA Inspires Bursary Programme, today.
The bursary will be awarded to one or more candidates who hope to pursue a career in the Internet Service Provider sector.
The bursary is available to students who wish to further their studies at a university, TVET or technical college, as well as, “any institution providing any type of accredited ICT training or sector specific courses where there is an identified shortage of skills in South Africa”.
“The ISPA Inspires educational sponsorship supports both the students and ISPA’s members. We believe it is important to build a strong foundation within the ICT sector by encouraging and assisting our young people to enter the ICT sector,” said chairperson of ISPA’s Social development Working Group, Aurora Vani.
With very few bursaries available, applications should be submitted sooner rather than later. ISPA tells us in a press release that it received 296 applications for its 2022 programme. The person awarded the bursary was Tracey Bungu who is studying a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (Software Engineering).
ISPA has outlined the following application criteria below:
- Open to South African citizens.
- Applicants should be 35-years old or younger.
- Current or prospective undergraduate students enrolled for the 2023 academic year at a South African TVET college, university, registered private college, or registered higher educational institution.
- Only applicants enrolled or planning to enrol in a field of study related to ICT (Information and Communications Technology) need apply.
