Luno appoints Christo de Wit as country manager for South Africa

As it approaches a decade in business, Luno has appointed a new country manager for South Africa.

The person appointed is Christo de Wit (pictured above) who has held leadership roles at True Money. Among those roles, de Wit was the country manager for True Money in Myanmar. He also headed regional marketing in Asia for Rocket Internet’s Everjobs. The forthcoming country manager also holds a BA in Socio Informatics.

In his new position, the country manager will focus on building on top of the growth Luno has seen in South Africa. Part of this will involve “raising awareness about crypto as a long-term investment”, Luno said in a statement.

As we’ve reported before, South Africa is a key market for Luno. Looking at the firm’s verified user base, 43 percent are South Africans.

While there are many crypto currency exchanges and investment firms, Luno has remained a fixture in the space since 2013. By October last year, the firm boasted 9 million users across 40 countries and now has a staff over 1 000 employees strong.
