Rectron adds EcoFlow back-up power solutions to its portfolio

Back-up power solutions have almost become a necessity in South Africa. Sure, loadshedding hasn’t been implemented in some time, but the risk of power cuts is always present.

While generators are popular, the noise and fact that they run on expensive fuel means they aren’t always the best solution for everybody.

The firm EcoFlow manufactures battery-powered back-up power solutions and local distributor Rectron has added its products to its portfolio. These power sources can be easily recharged at the wall once the power returns and they are more portable and quieter than generators.

“Given the instabilities of our power situation in this country, we are excited to partner with EcoFlow in expanding our innovative back-up energy solutions to meet the increasing demands in our market. EcoFlow products offer efficiency, convenience and portability in providing power for a variety of off-the-grid scenarios,” product director at Rectron South Africa, Matthew Hall said in a statement.

Rectron points out the Delta and River back-up power solutions. The base model River is a smaller back-up power solution that can power up to 9 devices at once. It has a 600W output and 288Wh capacity and can be fully charged in 1.6 hours.

The Delta’s base model is a beefier solution with a 1.2kWh capacity and a maximum output of 1 800W.

“At EcoFlow, our mission is to develop renewable power solutions that make an industrial amount of power accessible to a consumer. We are building a complete ecosystem which not only addresses power generation and storage but usage as well. Our partnership with Rectron will open up possibilities in delivering our vision to the South African market,” senior account executive for Africa at EcoFlow, Nicky Wang said in a statement.

The EcoFlow back-up power solutions look like a great solution for South Africans. With Rectron now distributing the product, we hope to see more retailers stocking EcoFlow back-up power solutions. Here’s hoping that happens before loadshedding makes its unwelcome return.
