• Applications opened on 1st September for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Unisa for 2023.
• The closing date for undergraduate and selected postgraduate applications is tomorrow.
• Those pursuing Master’s and Doctorates have until 14th November to apply.

It is crunch time for those completing their matric studies this year as exams are around the corner. On top of this is applying for tertiary studies, and one of the largest institutions in the country, Unisa is set to close its undergraduate applications for the 2023 academic year tomorrow, 14th October.

On 1st September, Unisa opened up its applications for 2023 undergraduates, with certain postgraduate students also having until the end of tomorrow to apply.

In a tweet pinned to its Twitter account at the time of writing, Unisa confirms that postgraduate applications in this regard refer to Honours degrees and diplomas. In the case of those pursuing Master’s or Doctorates, they have until 14th November to apply with the institution.

As a reminder of the documents you require when applying, Unisa has outlined the following:

• Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
• Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
• Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
• Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
• Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans.

The institution has also advised on the state in which documents will be accepted:

• Files may not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
• Only black and white documents may be submitted.
• Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file).

As we have seen in recent years, technical issues often plague Unisa’s online systems, so it is important that you adhere to the guidelines above to ensure applications go as smoothly as possible.
