- Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 flagship device has been subject to several leaks in recent months.
- While nothing is yet to be confirmed by the South Korean tech giant, these leaks do contain some indication of what users can expect from the phone.
- The Galaxy S23 is rumoured to contain a next-generation Snapdragon chip, improved battery capabilities and will be running OneUI 5 on Android 13.
The upcoming flagship device of South Korean tech mega power Samsung, the Galaxy S23, has been the subject of several leaks on its journey towards its expected 8th February 2023 release window.
In September, popular consumer tech leaker @OnLeaks published renders of what the device could look like on Twitter. Showing a smartphone with rounded edges and a triple camera system aligned vertically, the leak also revealed that the Galaxy S23 could have a 6.1-inch display.
More recently, leaker @UniverseIce revealed the rumoured protective cases meant for the upcoming smartphone, seemingly confirming the previously leaked design.

Speculations then went wild. A leaked benchmark of the S23 showed that it could possibly beat Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 in raw performance power in multi-core testing.
Adding to the rumours and murmurs, today popular tech tipster @heyitsyogesh apparently leaked the complete specifications for the Galaxy S23.

This recent leak agrees with previous rumours about the display size, adding that it will be a full HD plus “super” AMOLED screen. In terms of silicon, the Galaxy S23 is now rumoured to carry Qualcomm’s next-generation chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The device will run Android 13 with Samsung’s upcoming OneUI 5 reskin. Samsung has said that OneUI 5 will come with a host of new and improved customisation, personification and security options, including new widgets and motion wallpapers, among others.
The device will apparently have 8GB of RAM and will launch with storage options of 128 or 256GB.
Users can also expect a battery upgrade if the leak proves to be accurate with the Galaxy S23 sporting a 3 900mAh battery, with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities. A small boost to charging power compared to the Galaxy S22’s 3 700MAh battery.
In terms of camera setup, the Galaxy S23 could ship with a 50MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation, which uses a tiny gyroscope to adjust camera movement, along with a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 10MP telephoto lens-equipped camera for optical zoom.
Samsung is expected to launch the new flagship device next year worldwide, but no specific South African launch date has yet to be finalised. This date will usually be after the initial launch period.
As always we will publish that information as soon as it becomes available.
