The six pillars Rectron is building the future of its business on

This week Rectron hosted its Innovation Summit 2022 in Johannesburg. The Summit saw the distributor hosting a number of its suppliers and resellers to discuss the future of the technology sector in South Africa.

That future is very much focused on empowering SMEs explains chief product officer at Rectron, Matthew Hall. The distributor says that part of futureproofing its business over the next 10 – 15 years involves diversifying its product offering with a view to helping SMEs compete with larger enterprises.

Perhaps most importantly, Rectron aims to help drive grow quickly and has decided to build the future of its business on six pillars it feels will put it in good stead for the future.

Gaming

According to Research and Markets, the global gaming hardware market is growing at compound annual growth rate of 8.61 percent and will be worth $3.46 billion by the end of this year and as much as $5.23 billion by 2027.

Rectron has a number of reputable brands it distributes within this segment including AMD, Intel, Gigabyte, Cooler Master, Corsair and MSI. With these brands under its roof, Rectron is positioned to capitalise on new releases from the likes of AMD, Intel and Nvidia when those products are released.

Business electronics

Everybody needs something to work on and here Rectron spoils customers with choice. The distributor handles well know business electronics brands including ASUS, Lenovo, D-Link, Creative and even DJI.

Through these brands Rectron is able to offer businesses a wide choice of best-in-class solutions including convertible notebooks and – perhaps more importantly – notebooks geared toward your business’ needs. There are even solutions such as Everki, which makes bags, that help Rectron and its suppliers add more value for customers.

Consumer electronics

Here you have the likes of Samsung, Hisense, HP and Huawei which all offer some form of technology aimed at the home user. Whether it’s TVs, printers, notebooks or smartphones, Rectron has a number of suppliers and brands it works with under its roof.

Cloud infrastructure and networking

Perhaps the most interesting pillar in Rectron’s suite is its cloud infrastructure. According to Hall, the idea here is to make enterprise-grade solutions available to SMEs. Through brands such as Microsoft, H3C, Lenovo ISG and Synology among others, Rectron is able to bring hyperconverged cloud solutions to smaller businesses.

This is not just great for the business but great for Rectron as well given it builds a reputation with a business that it can then leverage.

Point of Sale

Don’t wince, point of sale technology is no longer simply a till and a cash register with a tiny display. With ecommerce the point of sale can now exist within a vast warehouse operated by an army of employees. In order to make management of these warehouses, stock systems and other behind-the-scenes operations new and more efficient technologies needed to be created and Rectron features a number of brands that make point of sale their one true passion.

Perhaps the most well known brand in this segment is Zebra which manufacturers point of sale systems for everybody from retailers to hospitals. With ecommerce having gained so much popularity locally over the last two years, this is a move from Rectron that makes a lot of sense.

Power solutions

The writing has been on the wall regarding Eskom for some time now and Rectron has brought a number of business that can offer alternatives into its fold. By now you’ve likely heard of Ecoflow which Rectron recently brought under its roof. This firm offers a number of back-up power solutions that are recharged via mains power.

One of the cooler (this will land in a moment) solutions from Ecoflow is battery powered air-conditioner that lasts eight hours on a single charge. Rectron’s own RCT brand also offers an array of inverters, UPS and other backup power solutions.
