You can now shop for Pick n Pay products via Mr D

  • Pick n Pay and Mr D have entered a partnership, with ecommerce thriving post-pandemic.
  • Over 10 000 food and grocery products will be accessible via the Mr D app.
  • Delivery is estimated to take an hour long, with pricing said to be the same as in-store.

During the pandemic, we saw many Souths Africans lean on ecommerce solutions to get the things they needed while restricted to their homes as a result of the lockdown. While said restrictions have eased, the country’s desire for ecommerce has only increased, which likely prompted this latest collaboration between Pick n Pay and Mr D.

Here both companies have partnered to make Pick n Pay products purchasable on the Mr D app. The latter will also be handling deliveries too, giving fans of the retailer brand an additional ecommerce option outside of its ASAP! platform.

“This new dedicated grocery shopping experience with Pick n Pay through the Mr D app allows customers to shop over 10,000 food and grocery products – at the same price as in-store – for delivery in an hour. It really ups the convenience factor for customers,” notes Alexander Wörz, CEO of Mr D, regarding the partnership in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“We have made the shopping journey delightfully easy for customers to browse and buy, with every product listed by aisle or occasion,” he added.

The CEO also notes that those who make use of the service via Mr D will be able to earn Smart Shopper points on all orders, as well as eBucks when shopping for groceries too. In terms of the logistics, Mr D handles the ordering and delivery portions, while the retailer is responsible for sourcing products for orders in-store.

“The demand for online grocery shopping has grown rapidly, and there is huge potential for further growth. By working alongside the Takealot Group and Mr D, we will give customers the best and most reliable on-demand offer in South Africa,” highlighted Vincent Viviers, executive co-head of Omnichannel at Pick n Pay.

“We are hugely excited by this launch, which is an important part of our Ekuseni strategic plan. Our goal is to make life easier, more exciting, and more affordable for our customers. Working with the Takealot Group, we have developed a highly scalable offer which will give many more customers the opportunity to buy Pick n Pay groceries online, delivered by Mr D,” concluded Pick n Pay CEO, Pieter Boone.

You can download the Mr D app from the Play Store, App Store and AppGallery locally.
