Netflix and Neil Gaiman dreaming up new episodes of The Sandman

  • Neil Gaiman confirmed that new episodes of The Sandman are coming.
  • Netflix has teased that the new episodes will see the army of Hell marching on Dream and that viewers will meet more of The Endless.
  • There is no word on when we can expect these new episodes, nor how many there will be.

No matter how popular a series might look, it’s never entirely safe on Netflix.

The streaming platform has a long history of cancelling shows that look to be popular given the online conversation surrounding them. Thankfully, the conversation surrounding Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, seemingly translated into views on Netflix.

We say this because Neil Gaiman took to Twitter today to announce that new episodes of The Sandman are coming alongside a short video.

“Millions upon millions of people have welcomed and watched and loved The Sandman on Netflix, from established Sandman fans to people who were simply curious, and then became obsessed with the Lord of Dreams, his family and their goings-on,” Gaiman said in a statement to Netflix.

“It gives me unbelievable pleasure to say that, working with Netflix and Warner Bros., Allan Heinberg, David Goyer and I will be bringing even more of The Sandman stories to life,” the author added.

There is no word on when we can expect these new episodes of the show but Netflix provided a morsel of a teaser as regards the content. The next episodes will reportedly focus on Dream’s family conflict as well as the threat of Lucifer and her army marching on The Sandman.

“And now we get to meet the rest of the Endless!” proclaimed executive producer David Goyer. “The support our partners at Netflix and Warner Bros. have given us has been phenomenal. And the fan response made the 10-year journey worth every obstacle. Truly, this has been a labor of love.”

We do wonder whether we’ll get to see Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian again even if that isn’t entirely possible but perhaps in a flashback episode. We’re just suckers for Holbrook if we’re honest and his portrayal of the character was superb.

If we don’t see Holbrook, we’ll be excited to see Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer again. Fair warning, the clip below may disturb some viewers with a sensitive disposition.
