TP-Link debuts new lineup of WiFi 7 supporting routers

  • Currently, most new routers support WiFi 6 or 6E, but TP-Link is already bringing WiFi 7 ones to market.
  • The company’s latest lineup includes quad-band, gaming and WiFi mesh routers.
  • These new products support the upcoming IEEE specification, according to TP-Link.

If you purchase a new router these days, it is more than likely supporting WiFi 6 or 6E, but it looks like manufacturers such as TP-Link are already preparing for WiFi 7.

This is as the company held an event this week to showcase its latest lineup of WiFi 7 supporting routers, all of which are designed to support the upcoming IEEE specification.

“As the world’s first vendor to release a full home and business WiFi 7 product line, TP-Link launched new WiFi 7 routers, Deco products, Omada EAPs, and Aginet products for ISP markets to cover all usage scenarios. Additionally, TP-Link’s new HomeShield 3.0 provides more reliable and smarter network solutions,” noted its latest announcement.

The flagship offering, also seen in the header image, is the Archer BE900. This particular model supports quad-band 24Gbps WiFi 7 speeds, with is also said to be a world first, according to TP-Link.

Along with the quad-band option, the company has two tri-band variants in the form of the Archer BE800 and Archer BE550— which were also released simultaneously. They offer speeds of up to 9Gbps and 9.2Gbps respectively.

On the gaming front, there’s the Archer GE800, which too is a tri-band WiFi 7 router that delivers speeds over 18Gbps. TP-Link is also aiming for more entertainment applications outside of gaming, with the router capable of supporting 8K content, AR/VR, and home NAS setups.

Last worth mentioning is the Deco BE95 Whole Home Mesh WiFi System. Here TP-Link is noting speeds of up to 33Gbps on four frequencies, two of which are on the 6GHz band.

The key advantage here is that one of the 6GHz bands can be used as a dedicated backhaul to provide more stable signals, even if your phone or notebook doesn’t support WiFi 7 or the 6GHz band currently, TP-Link confirms.

Before you start searching for where you can pick one of these new routers up locally, pre-orders are limited to the United States for now.

Other regions will be able to purchase the products in the first two quarters of next year, so be on the lookout for WiFi 7 routers from TP-Link and others in the coming months.
