Wakanda Forever talent land in Nigeria for African Black Panther premiere

Ahead of the launch of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever later this week on 11th November, the cast and crew from the latest Marvel film touched down in Lagos, Nigeria for some special events.

“In attendance at the photo call in Lagos were filmmakers and cast from the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Black Panther, including stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Winston Duke, as well as director Ryan Coogler,” a press release sent to us read.

The plot of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever centres around the death of T’Challa as the actor behind the character, the late Chadwick Boseman, unfortunately, and suddenly passed away in August 2020 following a private battle with cancer.

While Wakanda and its royal family deal with this tragedy it also finds itself at odds, and potentially at war, with the nation of Talokan led by Namor (Mejía).

Anticipation for Wakanda Forever has been high as fans are eager to know who will don the Black Panther mantle and carry on the name of the character. Namor is also a classic character that the community has been hoping to see in live-action ever since the MCU kicked off more than a decade ago.

“The press conference was followed by a talent and industry-focused press conference hosted by Nigerian radio and television on-air personality, IK Osakioduwa and popular South Africa Radio and Television presenter, Anele Mdoda.

Media had the opportunity to engage with talent from the film in a question and answer session, followed by an insightful session that featured director Ryan Coogler, Christine Service (Senior Vice President and General Manager of The Walt Disney Company Africa), Moses Babatope (Deputy Managing Director for Filmhouse Group and Managing Director of FilmOne Entertainment), as well as Chioma Ude, Founder of AFRIFF,” the press release continued.
