Rectron to distribute Smart PV solutions from Huawei

  • Rectron has partnered with Huawei to offer FusionSolar Smart PV solutions.
  • These solutions are available for utilities, commercial operations and residential properties.
  • Huawei’s solution can be monitored over an app to track usage which is great for all users.

The second half of the year has been marked by pervasive loadshedding almost every day. As such, many locals have started implementing backup or alternate power solutions.

Local distributor Rectron has announced that it has partnered with Huawei to distribute its FusionSolar Smart PV solutions. This product includes solutions for utilities, commercial operations and residential properties.

“We are excited to partner with Huawei, as the company brings significant technology expertise into the solar solutions space. Smart energy is the next frontier in sustainability, and in a South African power crisis context, this offering couldn’t come at a better time,” managing director for Rectron South Africa, Spencer Chen.

According to a press release sent to Hypertext, FusionSolar solutions include generation, transmission, distribution, and storage.

“From installing a PV power plant to monitoring your home’s solar energy usage on an app, FusionSolar’s Smart PV solutions cover a range of applications; Rectron is proud to be able to facilitate the distribution of such game-changing technology,” says Chen.

Unfortunately, Rectron has not been able to provide pricing but that makes sense as the solution will differ from customer to customer based on their needs. That having been said, expect to pay a pretty penny for a solar power solution to be installed. For example, a 5kWp solar system from Nedbank’s Avo costs R145 600.

While you may not think of Huawei as a solar company, its SUN2000 15-20KTL series smart inverter won the Intersolar Award in 2019.

While it may be pricey to install solar now, perhaps as more companies push to make the technology available locally the prices will come down.
