• Reports this week suggest Dell is finalising a deal to acquire Israeli startup Cloudify.

There have been a number of reports this week suggesting Dell is looking to invest in its cloud business and make significant improvements in areas it has yet to fully develop. To that end, the company is said to be eyeing up an acquisition of Israeli startup Cloudify, which specialises in orchestration and infrastructure automation.

As such, bringing Cloudify into the fold would boost the DevOps capabilities of Dell by some margin.

At the time of writing, Dell is yet to officially confirm its intent to purchase, nor that a deal is set to be completed, but sources familiar with the matter have reached out to publications like TechCrunch regarding its impending announcement.

“Dell Technologies announced that it has completed the acquisition of Cloudify. This transaction allows Dell to continue to innovate our edge offerings,” an unnamed spokesperson told the publication.

The same sources also disclosed that the deal could be to the tune of $100 million if concluded.

This deal would make a lot of sense too, with backers of Cloudify including VMware and Intel to name a few, both of which have collaborated extensively with Dell in recent years, with the former having done so specifically on the cloud front.

Dell is also said to have been eyeing a sizeable acquisition in this space for some time, particularly as the company seemingly has money ready to invest. This as its market cap sits at around $29 billion, based on recent figures. These numbers will be more accurate once Dell’s Q4 report is publicly disclosed in March, so it will be interesting to see whether Cloudify will feature in the report too.
