Payfast brings PayGate and SiD under one banner in rebrand

  • Earlier today Payfast announced that it was rebranding, bringing PayGate and SiD all under one banner.
  • The rebrand will also see a new website launched, which will go live at midnight tonight (17th January).
  • The rebrand is designed to throw more weight behind growing the country’s ecommerce sector.

At an event hosted in Cape Town earlier today, payment gateway Payfast announced that it will be rebranded.

The rebrand sees Payfast join PayGate and SiD under Network International, with the company serving as the newly created home for its consolidated offering.

“With a renewed focus on enabling growth – for the brand, its merchants, and the broader ecommerce industry – this milestone represents a new era in the payments industry,” noted Payfast in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“By combining the capabilities of three of South Africa’s biggest ecommerce players under one powerful entity, we have strengthened our ability to deliver on our promise to partners – which is to do everything we can to unleash their growth potential. We’ve created an environment where some of the industry’s top minds can share ideas and work together towards innovation in the payments sector,” added Brendon Williamson, MD at Payfast.

The rebrand also includes a new logo and colour palette, although Payfast is careful to point out that this announcement is not about aesthetics alone.

“This is more than just a cosmetic change, it’s a major step in the merging of industry giants. By creating a unified brand and legal entity that everyone we’ve brought together will associate with, both internally and externally, we will solidify a single vision to take us forward as a business. At an industry level, the partnership enables us to ensure that local ecommerce remains on par with international trends,” enthused Williamson.

On this front the company is promising merchants a better, more advanced experience, specifically leveraging the fact that all three brands and their related solutions are now under one banner. “Looking ahead, the company plans to leverage the skills, technology, and ideas of the combined workforce to boost ecommerce opportunities and capabilities for their merchants,” the company added.

Lastly, as part of the rebrand, a new website will go live at midnight tonight – payfast.io.
