- Lenovo has unveiled a host of new PCs and notebooks at MWC 23, with more than a dozen different models being showcased.
- Many of the devices place an emphasis on enabling hybrid work, which has been a focus for the company as a result of the pandemic.
- Sustainability is another focus area, with packaging and components featuring more recycled materials.
A fixture at Mobile World Congress in recent years, 2023 was no different for Lenovo, which had a slew of new PCs and notebooks to showcase.
As has been the case since the height of the pandemic, Lenovo appears to be focusing on enabling hybrid work when it comes to its consumer electronics.
“Encompassing a progressive and contemporary design philosophy, the latest PC solutions, including a comprehensive refresh across the ThinkPad portfolio, focus on improvements in system performance, increased use of more sustainable materials, and continued enhancements to user experience,” the company explained in a blog post previewing its latest devices.
There are more than a dozen new devices that were announced, which includes the different skews of displays sizes and generations. To that end, some of the highlights in terms of new offerings are the second generation ThinkPad Z13 and Z16, as well as the first generation ThinkPad E16.
Others include the ThinkPad X13 and X13 Yoga, along with the ideaPad Slim 3 Chromebook, and fifth generation ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One (TIO) monitor (pictured in the header).
The company also emphasised some of its sustainability goals, with packaging and selected components featuring recycled materials in this latest lineup of products.
“The increased use of more recycled materials and Post Consumer Content (PCC) plastic in select components is in line with Lenovo’s continued focus on supporting a circular economy and Lenovo’s goal to integrate post-consumer recycled content into 100% of PC products by 2025,” it confirmed.
Back to some of the hero devices and the aforementioned Z13 and Z16 are second generation for 2023, featuring up to AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors with AMD Radeon 700M Series graphics, Windows 11, configurable with up to 64GB dual channel memory, and up to 2TB PCIe SSDs.
Shifting to the ThinkPad E16, which is a new 16″ model in this range, and it is available with up to Windows 11 Pro and either 13th Gen Intel Core processors or AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors. Added to this is AMD Radeon 610M graphics, dual SSD storage up to 2TB, Wi-Fi 6E, and 47Whr or 57Whr battery options.
One of the more interesting options, especially for those wanting to potentially work more remotely or in need of a wider range of components than a notebook can muster is the ThinkCentre Tiny-In-One 24 Gen 5. This is Lenovo’s answer to an enterprise-focused AIO desktop PC.
“For a more versatile all-in-one experience, the Tiny-in-One (TIO) form factor has traditionally allowed for modularity, enabling a cable-less connection with various Tiny PCs and the ability to switch out components when needed so that the monitor and PC can be refreshed separately. Available in two sizes, 21.5-inch and 23.8-inch, the new ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One Gen 5 Monitor offers an improved VoIP audio/visual experience via an upgraded 1080p webcam, microphone and two user-facing speakers,” the company highlights.
“Modular in its design, the ThinkCentre TIO product line features a rear compartment with a built-in, 3-in-1 connector port where the Tiny desktop unit can easily snap in and out, mounting to the monitor without any cable required,” it adds.
At the time of writing it remains to be seen which specific products Lenovo South Africa will choose to make available locally via its channel and retail partners, but given the hybrid work focus of this latest lineup, we suspect quite a few will their way to our shores.
