Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story arriving on Showmax early next month

  • Showmax has confirmed that it will make Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story available to stream in March.
  • The documentary will be available to Showmax Pro subscribers on 1st March.
  • Regular Showmax subscribers get access on 6th March.

With the Rugby World Cup happening in France later this year, as well as the Springboks being the current holders of the Webb Ellis trophy, all eyes will be on South African captain Siya Kolisi at the tournament.

Those interested in his early years, along with how life has changed for him and his family both prior to and after the 2019 World Cup win in Japan, will no doubt want to watch Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story when it arrives on Showmax next month.

The streaming platform is making the documentary available to Showmax Pro subscribers from 1st March, with regular Showmax subscribers capable of watching it from 6th March.

“Not only does the documentary delve into Kolisi’s improbable rise to international stardom, but it also takes an unashamed look into his personal life. He shares the story of his complicated relationship with his father, his struggle with alcoholism and his journey with his wife, Rachel, in this intimate film,” explains Showmax in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Kolisi has never shied away from where he comes from and always wants to give back to the community. This might be his story, but he has said time and again that he is not a self-made man but instead credits all his success to the resources, opportunities and support from his community in Zwide,” it adds.

An inspiration for many South Africans, particularly off the pitch, there will no doubt be plenty of interest in his story and this documentary when it lands on Showmax next month.
