Sony’s new WH-CH720N and WH-CH520 headphones expected locally in March

  • Sony has revealed two new wireless headphones, with an over-ear and on-ear model landing in Middle East and Africa next month.
  • The over-ear WH-CH720N features the same dual noise sensor and integrated processor as Sony’s award-winning WH-1000XM5.
  • The on-ear WH-CH520 boasts up to 50 hours of battery life from a full charge.

This week Sony revealed two wireless headphones in the form of the WH-CH720N and WH-CH520, adding a new over-ear and on-ear offering to their current lineup of impressive audio products.

These new devices are expected to land in Middle East and Africa next month, although a precise launch date for South Africa has not been mentioned at the time of writing.

The same goes for pricing, although these offerings are designed to appeal to those who can’t get their hands on some of the company’s more expensive flagship wireless earphones.

So what is on offer from both?

Starting with the WH-CH720N- these headphones feature some technology from Sony’s award-winning WH-1000XM5.

To that end, it utilises dual noise sensor technology and an integrated processor V1 chip to provide noise-cancelling functionality. Added to this are up to 35 hours of battery life, a 192g lightweight body, and a Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), which is a technology present on both of the new headphones.

Moving onto the WH-CH520 and its on-ear wireless headphones’ most notable aspect is the battery life. Here Sony says it can muster up to 50 hours of use from a full charge.

It also has a couple of features designed for working, such as hands-free calling by answering calls with one click of the buttons on the earcup. There are also built-in microphones and noise suppression processing to reduce ambient noise during calls.

While we are still waiting on official information on local availability and pricing, there are a few details for selected markets to give us an idea of how much these headphones could cost. To that end, the WH-CH720N is recommended to retail for €150 (~R3 311) and the WH-CH520 for €70 (~R1 544).
