The PlayStation VR2 is now available to purchase in South Africa.

This comes after the next-gen VR headset was originally slated for availability on 22nd February to line up with the global release. Unfortunately that did not come to fruition, with some unexpected delays impacting deliverability, but local players have not had to wait long for the headset, with it now available.

The news was confirmed by a press release sent to Hypertext by Gamefinity, which is the official local distributor for PlayStation hardware and software.

“Featuring high fidelity visuals, new sensory features and enhanced tracking, PlayStation VR2 takes virtual reality gaming to a whole new level, enabling players to feel a heightened range of sensations unlike any other. The PlayStation VR2 headset and included PlayStation VR2 Sense controller is available at the recommended retail price of R13 499.99,” the distributor highlighted.

“PlayStation VR2’s innovative technology has helped unlock the creativity of the industry’s finest developers, who have designed outstanding games that deliver a greater sense of presence for players. I can’t wait for fans around the world to experience PlayStation VR2 for themselves,” added Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, at the headset’s global launch last week.

We also have our hands on the PS VR2, which we recently unboxed and are in the process of reviewing. You can watch said unboxing in the video below.

Local retailers are currently listing the PS VR2 for purchase, with BT Games, FNB, Game4UIncredibleKOODOO, Loot, Makro, New World, The Nexus Hub, Takealot and ZAPA Gaming, mentioned by Gamefinity.
