Viz Media drops full seasons of Death Note, Naruto for free on YouTube

  • Anime and manga localiser Viz Media has uploaded entire seasons of some of the most popular anime ever on its YouTube channel, for free.
  • Unfortunately, South African viewers will need a VPN set to the US in order to watch the episodes.
  • Viz has uploaded all episodes of Death Note, Sailor Moon, and entire seasons of Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Inuyasha and more.

Anime dubbing and localisation firm Viz Media has decided to upload entire seasons of some of the most popular anime ever on its YouTube channel for free.

South African viewers, however, will require a VPN to watch as the episodes are unavailable in our region. If you do have a VPN, make sure to select servers in the US since that is the only region we can see where they are live.

According to a blog post from Viz, entire seasons of Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, Inuyasha, Mr Osomatsu, Naruto, Sailor Moon, and more are available to watch for free.

The playlist, found here, contains all 37 episodes of Death Note, Seasons 1 to 3 of Hunter x Hunter, the complete series of Inuyasha, seasons 1 and 2 of Mr Osomatsu, all episodes of the Sailor Moon anime and seasons 1 to 8 of Naruto (over 220 episodes). All episodes are in Japanese with English subtitles.

In addition to these popular series, Viz has also uploaded anime movies and other series including titles such as Accel World, TIGER & BUNNY, K, Infini-T Force and the super robot classic Mazinger Z.

Viz localises anime and manga from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Bleach, One Punch Man, and Pokémon, among many others. It is holding off on publishing more popular anime on its channel for now.

As far as we can tell, this is an unprecedented move from Viz. While it is possible to find these shows on YouTube, episodes will usually have some form of watermarking or audio mixing in order to avoid copyright strikes.

Either that or they will be in parts. Which is a terrible way to spend your time.

If you have access to a VPN – you can check out ProtonVPN which is free – we recommend definitely checking out Death Note as it is an all-time classic and among the best thrillers ever written. Next, we recommend Naruto and Sailor Moon.

Viz offers entire seasons for purchase on its website, such as Part 1 of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. This latest play in uploading older anime for free could be to attract more customers. South Africans looking to purchase things on the Viz website should do so cautiously in case there are any area-specific restrictions in play.
