Apple sets WWDC 2023 for 5th June

  • Apple has set the date for this year’s developer conference, with WWDC 2023 running from 5th to 9th June.
  • The event will be online for the most part, with in-person sessions scheduled for the first day only.
  • New software is expected, with rumours suggesting Apple will debut its VR/AR headset too.

If you pray to the altar of Apple, you may want to set aside some time in early June, as this is when the company’s annual developer conference will be taking place. The Cupertino-based company confirmed that WWDC 2023 will be happening from 5th to 9th June.

Like last year, much of the event will be held online, but there will be some in-person elements for attendees and media on the first day, with the company’s California HQ (Apple Park) playing host.

As for what the WWDC 2023 will focus on, like most iterations, software will be key. To that end we should be seeing what new features and functions Apple has been working on across its ecosystem of operating systems, as well as what devs will be able to access in the following weeks and months after the conference.

“Free for all developers, WWDC23 will spotlight the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS advancements. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to helping developers create innovative apps, the event will also provide them with unique access to Apple engineers, as well as insight into new technologies and tools to help them realize their visions,” the company noted in a press release.

“Along with announcements shared from the keynote and State of the Union presentations, this year’s online program will include sessions, one-on-one labs, and opportunities to engage with Apple engineers and other developers,” it added.

While it is unclear what hardware will be showcased, if any, reports suggest Apple could be ready to finally unveil its mixed reality (VR/AR) headset at the event. This would not be the first time that Apple has done so for the developer conference, having debuted its M2 chip and accompanying Mac devices previously.

Either way, there could be more than just software on show at WWDC 2023.
