• This week Sony held a global launch event for its latest lineup of Bravia XR Smart TVs, with four new models in tow.
• The new TVs are currently slated for release in Middle East and Africa (MEA) for May of this year.
• All four of the new models feature Sony’s XR Clear Image technology.

Ever since Sony reintroduced Bravia TVs to South Africa a couple of years ago, the company’s products have proved impressive. For 2023, we can expect four new models to make their way to our shores, with Sony this week revealing its latest lineup of Bravia XR Smart TVs.

The four new models in question are:

• BRAVIA XR X95L 4K HDR Mini LED Google TV (85″ or 75″),
• BRAVIA XR X90L 4K HDR Full Array LED Google TV (85″, 75″, 65″ or 55″),
• BRAVIA XR A95L 4K HDR QD-OLED Google TV (77″ or 65″),
• BRAVIA XR A80L 4K HDR OLED Google TV (83″, 77″, 65″ or 55″).

The new offerings also sport an updated Cognitive Processor XR, as well as all-new XR Clear Image technology, which improves noise reduction, clarity with motion, and reduces blur.

Also being highlighted by the Japanese company are the audio enhancements and integration with PS5 console gameplay.

Regarding the former, the 2023 Bravia XR lineup features Acoustic Center Sync, which synchronises the TV’s audio system with the centre channel of a compatible Sony soundbar. Added to this, each model also works with Sony soundbars to offer 360 Spatial Sound Mapping.

On the gaming side, with paired with a PS5, Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode are on offer, which provide optimised picture quality while playing or streaming. Other features include a game menu where you can tailor their settings to their preferences, such as turning on or off VRR or Motion Blur Reduction.

At the time of writing, there is no recommended pricing for these four new models, but they will like carry a premium price tag, as past Bravia XR TVs have. That said, we could see them land in South Africa in May, which is when they are slated for Middle East and Africa (MEA) by Sony.
