• A new update to Fortnite includes the ability to play as Attack on Titan heroes Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, and Captain Levi as part of a new anime crossover.
• New weapons and other items are also included, like the ODM Gear which changes how you move around the map.
• Eren Jaeger can now hit the Griddy.

Last month undisputed battle royale king Fortnite foretold that everyone’s favourite war criminal Eren Jaeger would be available for gameplay as part of an update for Chapter 4 Season 2.

That update, namely V24.20, landed on Tuesday and now Eren Jaeger and other popular characters from Attack on Titan are heading to Fortnite’s battle royale mode, with several new gameplay mechanics including ODM gear maneuvering.

Now in the final part of its final season, Attack on Titan is among the more popular anime ever. The show has evolved since its beginning and has been praised for its animation, writing, characters, and twists. The main character of Eren Jaeger transformed from a noble hero to a tragic villain as the story progressed.

The show’s inclusion in Fortnite at this stage is not a strange move. Other popular anime have found their way into the Battle Royale, including Naruto, and more recently Dragon Ball Z.

New outfits for players available now at the item shop include Eren Jaeger, as well as Mikasa Ackerman and Captain Levi. Or, you can unlock the Eren Jaeger outfit by completing certain Battle Pass Quests.

You can unlock new emoticons, a Hardening-themed pickaxe, wraps, and a banner icon as part of these quests.

New weapons are also included in the update, namely the dreaded Thunder Spears and ODM Gear which includes the iconic titan-slaying blades. The ODM gear is of particular interest as it adds a whole new way to move around the buildings of Mega City, similar to other Attack on Titan video games.

Fortnite says about the ODM Gear: “Having this apparatus equipped will give you the ability to grapple in the air and strike opponents below! After attacking with the built-in blades, you’ll immediately boost back into the air so you can grapple elsewhere… or hover and execute another attack.”

The new items can be found on the ground like normal weapons, or in Chests and in new Scout Regiment Footlockers. More stuff can be unlocked if you find the hidden Jaeger Family Basement in Anvil Square.

The question remains: can Eren Jaeger hit the Griddy in Fortnite? Oh hell yeah.
