Carry1st has announced a new partnership that will be of interested to those in the mobile esports community, as it is now the official licensor and publisher of Mobile Premier League (MPL) in Africa.

For those unfamiliar with the MPL, it is one of the largest mobile esports and gaming platforms in India, and through Carry1st, it will allow new players on the African continent to access one of the world’s largest Paid Competitive Gaming (PGC) platforms.

The publisher is currently working with the Mobile Premier League to optimise its content, with Nigeria earmarked as the first country to gain access to the product.

“MPL has integrated Pay1st, Carry1st’s monetization-as-a-service platform. With Pay1st, MPL provides over 120 local payment methods for in-game purchases across Carry1st’s markets in Africa,” the company added in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“We are incredibly excited to bring MPL to various African markets through our partnership with Carry1st. As our first market, Nigeria’s thriving gaming community and its position as the largest economy in Africa make it the perfect market for us to expand into. We are confident that gamers in this market will embrace MPL and its growing collection of games, and we look forward to providing them with an unforgettable gaming experience,” enthused Sai Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of the MPL.

The past few months have been filled with activity and success for Carry1st, having partnered with Call of Duty: Mobile in South Africa in 2022. The company also raised $27 million in funding, led by BITKRAFT Ventures, and signed a partnership with Riot Games to pilot local payments for the company’s games in Africa last year.

Here’s hoping this latest partnership helps to raise the profile of mobile esports on the continent.
