Paul becomes a Fremen in first trailer for Dune: Part Two

  • Warner Bros. has dropped the first full trailer for Dune: Part Two.
  • We get to see the new cast and characters that will be a part of this sequel, as well as Paul Atreides’ rise through the Fremen ranks.
  • Dune: Part Two is scheduled to hit cinemas on 3rd November this year.

Ask most staffers in our office what the best film of 2021 was, and the majority will say Dune. The Denis Villeneuve interpretation of Frank Herbet’s space opera epic was a treat for the eyes and ears, which is why we’re eagerly awaiting the release of Dune: Part Two.

To whet the appetite then, the first full trailer for Part Two surfaced on YouTube last night, bringing with it plenty more visuals to dissect and fawn over.

We also get to see Paul Atreides (played by Timothee Chalamet) embrace life as a Fremen, even riding a sandworm during the crescendo of the trailer, which is embedded at the end of this story.

Along with becoming a more integral part of the Fremen, we catch glimpses of new characters that will feature in Part Two, including Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot, and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino.

The latter actually does a lot of speaking in the trailer, which is a nod to the original novel given each new chapter is prefaced with context from her character. Other nods to the source material can be seen in the trailer below, with Stilgar (Javier Bardem) telling Paul to, “be simple, be direct,” as he prepares to ride the sandworm.

This is significant as it something only a handful of Fremen are capable of, speaking to being prophesied as the Lisan al-Gaib or the Voice from the Outer World.

Dune: Part Two is currently slated for release on 3rd November. It remains to be seen is this second part will lead to a third, but either way we are intrigued to see Paul’s story unfold later this year.
