• After debuting globally in March, Xiaomi is bringing its Redmi Note 12 Series to South Africa.
• Three devices are landing locally – the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G.
• Recommended pricing for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series starts at R5 499.

In March this year, Xiaomi debuted a new series of premium mid-range smartphones under its Redmi brand with the Redmi Note 12 lineup. At the time four different models appeared in the series, but for South Africa, Xiaomi has brought three of these into the country.

These are the Redmi Note 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro+ 5G.

We’ll run through all the key specifications for these devices shortly, but for now are focusing on the top 5G flavour. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G features a 6.67” FHD+ AMOLED display up front, with a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor powering the phone and delivering its 5G connectivity.

A trio of lenses are found on the rear – 200MP wide-angle, 8MP ultra wide-angle, and 2MP macro. Up front a 16MP selfie camera is present, along with 8GB RAM, 256GB onboard storage, and a large 5 000mAh battery.

As such, it appears to be handily set up device.

In terms of recommended pricing, the RRPs are as follows:

• Redmi Note 12 – R5 499,
• Redmi Note 12 Pro – R7 499,
• Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G – R11 999.

It is worth noting, however, that Vodacom has listed the aforementioned devices for discounted price tags too, although it’s unclear how long they will stay at those prices:

• Redmi Note 12 – Once off at R4 599, 
• Redmi Note 12 Pro – Once off at R6 299, 
• Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G – Once off at R10 099.
