• Dell Technologies has announced that the company’s full APEX Storage-as-a-Service suite is now available in South Africa.
• APEX offers hyperconverged storage and data protection solutions powered by Intel hardware.
• It also offers localised solutions, such as provisions for loadshedding, a choice of consumption models, and fixed pricing in rands.

Dell Technologies has announced that the full suite of its APEX data storage services are now available in South Africa.

Those who have been following the company’s local announcements around APEX will know that elements of the suite have been made available in recent years, after is was announced globally in 2020.

The Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering now provides local organisations with access to hyperconverged storage and data protection solutions that are powered by Intel hardware.

With many organisations preferring a consumption-based model in which their data centre infrastructure is purchased on a pay-per-use basis, Dell Technologies this suite will deliver the best experience.

“This means customers pay for the storage capacity they use and can scale at the service level they need with infrastructure owned and maintained by Dell. Customers and partners have flexibility and control over who performs day-to-day management operations with both Dell-managed and customer-managed options,” highlighted Doug Woolley, GM for Dell Technologies South Africa in a press release sent to Hypertext.

Some of the other advantages that Dell Technologies notes of this SaaS offering is a choice of consumption models, along with transparent costs and payments that are spread over the length of the contract agreement.

Added to this is the fact that pricing is fixed in South African Rands, along with being able to scale out options during the term that are quoted at the same unit price.

“In addition, load shedding challenges can be overcome with the APEX consumption-based model that can be hosted in any data centre, including shared facilities. Customers can use any vendor-neutral data centre that provides critical engineering infrastructure, physical security and interconnections between clients and the ecosystem,” Dell Technologies continued.

In terms of the full suite that is now available in SA, either through Dell Technologies or one of its vendors, the company has noted the following:

• APEX Flex on Demand,
• APEX Data Centre Utility.
