PBD introduces new security cams and battery backups at SecurEx

  • Premium Brand Distributors will be showcasing a few new solutions from Anker Solutions it’s bring to the local market.
  • These include the solar powered eufyCam 3 security cameras with facial recognition technology.
  • The distributor is also bringing new LiFePO4 Anker PowerHouse units to South Africa.

Guarding against loadshedding through backup power solutions has become a must in South Africa where constant loadshedding is reaching it’s first year in effect.

Local distributors Premium Brand Distributors (PBD) was recently selected by Anker Innovations to grow its eufy Security and Anker PowerHouse portfolios in South Africa. Together, the two brands offer a rather convenient home security setup that PBD partners could potentially bundle together. The distributor also told Hypertext in February that Anker Solar Panels would be added to the portfolio in the second quarter of this year.

This week, PBD will be showcasing a few more eufy and Anker PowerHouse products at SecurEx South Africa 2023.

“Participating in SecurEX marks a significant milestone for PBD,” chief executive officer of the distributor, Grant Norton, said in a statement.

“We’re excited about the tremendous opportunity to bring Anker Innovations’ eufy Security and Anker PowerHouse products to the vibrant South African market. The cutting-edge eufyCam 3 security system and versatile PowerHouse chargers meet the growing needs for enhanced security and portable power solutions,” the CEO added.

The eufyCam 3 is a tempting proposition in South Africa as it’s solar powered. This pairs up with the HomeBase 3 data hub which includes some interesting tech called BionicMind.

According to PBD, this technology is “a self-learning A.I. that will over time deliver 99 percent accuracy in recognizing different people, as well as detecting pets and objects. With BionicMind, every time someone passes through the camera’s field-of-view, their face, body and movements are sent to HomeBase 3. The more information the new data hub receives, the more precise its analysis will become – up to 99 percent accuracy”.

The HomeBase features 16GB of storage but you can add up to 16TB with external storage which you may want to do, given the 4K resolution of the camera.

What caught our attention, however, was the addition of new Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery powered Anker PowerHouses.

These products are:

  • Anker 535 Portable Power Station (512Wh)
  • Anker 521 Portable Power Station (256Wh)

The Anker 535 has a 500W total output which will power a laptop and a Full HD display or even a CPAP machine for a few hours. The smaller Anker 521 has a 200W total output so you may have to watch what you power with it.

“PBD’s participation at SecurEX this year is about more than just bringing the best of technology to South Africa. It’s about fostering a tech-savvy, future-forward environment in the country,” Norton added. “We believe partnership with eufy security and Anker PowerHouse’s cutting-edge solutions will revolutionize how consumers approach security and portable power.”

If you’re a reseller looking to broaden your product portfolio, it may be worth heading to SecurEx South Africa 2023 happening at the Gallagher Convention Centre this week.
