Say hi to Streamberry in new Black Mirror season six trailer

  • Ahead of its Netflix debut on 15th June, a new trailer has landed for season six of Black Mirror.
  • One of the episodes features an all too real streaming service called Streamberry that looks a lot like Netflix.
  • Season six is brimming with talent, including Salma Hayek Pinault, Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Kate Mara, Rob Delaney, and Zazie Beetz.

When we discussed June releases we were looking forward to in last week’s africast, Black Mirror had crossed our minds, but never made into the final edit as a release date was not revealed at the time.

That changed last night, however, as a new trailer landed online confirming that season six of Black Mirror will arrive on 15th June.

In said trailer, which you can see below, one of the episodes titled Joan is Awful, looks at the life of an average woman and her experiences with a streaming platform called Streamberry.

In a tongue-and-cheek way, Streamberry is a parody of Netflix itself, but in usual Black Mirror fashion starts to take a dark and twisted turn as the young woman’s life is seemingly being played out in one of the series on the platform, with Salma Hayek Pinault serving as the lead in said series.

Hayek Pinault is joined by a bunch of stars for the other episodes in season six of Black Mirror, including Aaron Paul, Anjana Vasan, Annie Murphy, Auden Thornton, Ben Barnes, Clara Rugaard, Daniel Portman, Danny Ramirez, Himesh Patel, John Hannah, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Monica Dolan, Myha’la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Samuel Blenkin, and Zazie Beetz, to name a few.

Creator and producer of the highly acclaimed and disturbing series, Charlie Brooker, says this latest season should be one of the most surprising to date.

“I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people (and myself) or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself,” he highlighted regarding season six.

Hopefully Streamberry is not the only Black Mirror-esque facsimile we see in the series. Either way we know we’ll be bingewatching season six over the long weekend that arrives in the middle of June.
