- TECNO has announced that a new device in the Spark 10 series is set to launch in SA – the Spark 10 5G.
- The device will be available to purchase at the beginning of July and is recommended to retail for R5 499.
- It is the first 5G-capable phone that TECNO has officially launched in SA.
At the beginning of last month, TECNO signalled its intent to bring new smartphones into South Africa, announcing that five were slated for local release. Four debuted at the time, but now the fifth is set to land as the TECNO Spark 10 5G will be available to purchase in SA at the start of July.
The new device is the first 5G-supporting one that the company has officially launched in South Africa.
We recently reviewed one of the other models in the Spark 10 series, with the Pro iteration proving solid enough, but perhaps lacking that killer feature. Perhaps the inclusion of 5G support will be the difference maker?
“On sale in the country from July, this model promises to bring faster network connections and less latency when it comes to connectivity. This means high-intensity activities on your phone like gaming, streaming and meetings become seamless,” enthused TECNO in a press release sent to Hypertext.
“With most forecasts predicting that the rollout of 5G will continue to accelerate in future, getting a 5G device now seems to be the smart move for most people,” it added.
Delivering the broadband connectivity on the TECNO Spark 10 5G is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6020 Express processor. Added to this is a generous 8GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage, and a sizeable 5 000mAh battery.
Other key elements of this newly available phone include a large 6.6″ HD+ display that support 90Hz refresh rates, a 50MP primary camera on the rear, and a 8MP selfie camera up front.
Lastly, in terms of recommended pricing, the TECNO Spark 10 5G carries a price tag of R5 499 from the likes of Vodacom, the phone maker confirmed. With the regular Pro good in its own right, the addition of 5G on this model might make it a savvy purchase.
