Crunchyroll making One Punch Man game for mobile and PC

  • Crunchyroll has announced a new One Punch Man game for mobile and PC.
  • One Punch Man World is an online JRPG title which is far different from the 2020 game.
  • Pre-registrations are open for the game, but no official launch date has been mentioned.

There is a new One Punch Man game on the cards, with Crunchyroll announcing its arrival earlier this week.

One Punch Man World, as it is has been christened, is an online JRPG game set in the One Punch Man universe. While no official launch date for the game has been announced at the time of writing, pre-registrations are open for this title earmarked for mobile (Android, iOS) and PC.

This is not the first time that a One Punch Man-related property has been developed for gamers, with a 2020 iteration arriving to mixed reactions. Part of the problem with that game was the fact that you did not actually play as the bald superhero Saitama. Instead, you played as one of the side characters, trying to hold your own against a powerful enemy in an arcade-style fighter mode until One Punch Man arrived on the scene and ended things in… one punch.

This new offering from Crunchyroll and Perfect World will see players create their own hero that will need to work up the ranks of the Hero Association. You will also get to play as some of the notable side characters from season one of the anime, including Genos and everyone’s favourite Mumen Rider.

“Heroes are needed in One Punch Man: World! A sinister wave of monster attacks has left the world and Hero Association under duress. However, after three years of special training, Saitama has become so powerful that he can defeat opponents with a single punch. The thing is, Saitama just does the hero thing for fun, but when every enemy goes down in one punch, overwhelming power can be kind of… boring. Now, in front of the laid-back strongest hero, a new enemy appears. Will he be able to show his full power today?,” reads a description of the video embedded below.

Whether this latest game will fare better than its predecessors remains to be seen, but with anime fans eagerly awaiting season three in the series, this latest piece of media will likely look to capitalise on interest.
