htxt.africast – Gadgets we can’t live without

As the Mercury plummets and loadshedding increases, we’re taking the opportunity to shy away from the serious in this week’s africast. The main topic today is about gadgets that Brendyn Lotz, Luis Monzon, and Clinton Matos can’t live without on a day to day basis.

We chat about tech for new parents, getting your steak cooked just right, gaming during loadshedding, and other gadgets that have become increasingly essential these days.

Before that though, Brendyn Lotz gives us an update regarding Meta’s new Twitter-clone, Threads. After grabbing headlines with 100 million signups in the first few days, daily users now sit at less than a quarter of that figure.

Then, Luis Monzon this week covered the news that South African Sign Language was set to become the country’s 12th official language. While the language is only used by some 600 000 locals, the fact that this move helps drive inclusivity in the country is one we applaud.

Finally, Clinton Matos dove into the world of Pikmin for the first time in Pikmin 4. While he may be a newcomer, the Nintendo Switch exclusive proved to alluring enough for Clinton to give it a recommendation calling it a “great game on its own”.
