Huawei debuts four new wearables for SA

  • Huawei Mobile South Africa has four new wearables launching locally in the coming weeks, with three smartwatches and one smart band.
  • The Watch GT3 SE and Band 8 are available to purchase now, and the Watch 4 and Watch Fit SE arrive on 1st August.
  • Huawei launched the new devices in in collaboration with SuperSport United FC and the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

If you are on the lookout for a new wearable, Huawei has four of them that are heading to South Africa. This as the company held a launch event earlier this week to debut four new wearables, with two available now and two more arriving on 1st August.

The devices in question are the Watch GT3 SE, Watch 4, Watch Fit SE, and the Band 8,

The wearables were launched by Huawei in collaboration with SuperSport United FC and the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

The Watch GT3 SE and Band 8 (pictured above) are available to purchase now, with the Watch 4 and Watch Fit SE landing in less than a week. We are focusing on the former two, as both are listed for purchase on Huawei’s official online store for R4 499 and R1 499 respectively.

“The HUAWEI WATCH GT3 SE is water-resistant and provides smart notifications, making it a compelling choice for users looking for an exceptional smartwatch experience without breaking the bank. Equipped with a built-in GNSS five-system high-precision positioning chip, which has excellent anti-interference performance it allows for tracking of science based workouts and accurate monitoring,” highlights Huawei of its latest GT smartwatch in a press release sent to Hypertext.

As with most of the company’s higher end smartwatches, the Watch GT3 SE boasts up two weeks of battery life, as well as support for all-day blood oxygen (Sp02) monitoring, 100-plus different workout modes and an AI-based running coach.

“The HUAWEI Band 8 sets new standards in fitness tracking with its advanced health monitoring features. Designed for the fitness enthusiast, this sleek and lightweight smart band boasts continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, blood oxygen level monitoring, and stress tracking. Users can stay connected with real-time notifications, music controls, and a vibrant touch display,” the Chinese firm notes of the smart band.

Other notable features include a 2-week long battery life, 5 ATM-rated water resistance (up to 50 metres), TruSleep 3.0 sleep monitoring technology, and a thin and lightweight 14g (without the band) design.
