The gameplay trailer for EA Sports FC 24 featured two seconds of actual gameplay

  • The first gameplay trailer for EA Sports FC 24 dropped last night, and it was woefully short of in-game action.
  • In fact, only two seconds of actual gameplay featured in the trailer.
  • With fans roasting some of the player renderings prior to launch, EA Sports FC 24 has not done much to win people over.

Earlier this week the Ultimate Edition cover for EA Sports FC 24 was posted online, and fans of the football gaming franchise rightfully roasted what were some truly awful renderings of real world players.

Many, including ourselves, hoped a full reveal of the title sans FIFA would quell any fears, but it has done the opposite, with a gameplay trailer dropping last night that is woefully short of any actual in-game action.

In fact, by our count, there are only two seconds of actual gameplay, which we have taken a screenshot of below, showing a Manchester City versus Tottenham Hotspurs match where two passes in total occur.

Now we weren’t expecting a deep dive in a gameplay trailer that’s less than two minutes long, but the distinct lack of actual gameplay has us a little concerned. This especially as the live stream event that pre-empted the trailer was also lacking in terms of explanations for new elements of EA Sports FC 24.

All we have been served so far is the fact that the game is running EA’s Frostbite engine, which is seven years old at this stage, along with HyperMotionV, which is for all intents and purposes a short cinematic mode that pops up every now and then when goals are scored.

Hopefully more in-depth breakdowns on what EA has been working on for this highly anticipated football game arrives between now and the 29th September release date. For now, there is not much to warrant the R1 099 and R1 499 asking prices for the respective Standard and Ultimate Editions.

If it is indeed in the game, EA needs to start showing its football fans.
