This EVERKI is a briefcase with less waste

Of all the remnants of the past seen in a modern office, school or while travelling, the briefcase may be the most common. Once the bastion for a slew of important documents and various pieces of stationery that people needed to carry, it seemed to seamlessly evolve into a way to carry notebooks and, more recently than that, tablets.

Unfortunately, while the use of briefcases has changed significantly, their design has not. Most companies are still using designs and manufacturing processes that date back decades, or even longer.

Thankfully there is a company approaching the space in a new way, and that company is EVERKI. Born out of the frustration with bags of all kinds simply not being up to snuff for the modern traveller, this company was created to make quality goods that are designed to last with modernity in mind.

It’s because of this that EVERKI offers original owners of their products a limited lifetime warranty, and why EVERKI has taken a different approach to briefcases.

Let’s look at the EVERKI CORE Ruggedized EVA Laptop Briefcase, a product that may seem minimalist at first, but offers a maximalist approach to features.

As you may have guessed by the name this product is designed to fiercely protect your electronics with screens up to 14 inches in size. It does this with a dense inner EVA foam shell that provides a hard stop between your expensive electronics and the outside world. While it’s tough to get into, the pocket for your notebook or tablet is rather plush thanks to ample padding and a soft, high-contrast lining that makes it easy to see into and quick for security to check, if needed, when flying.

The dedication to modern design continues with two front pockets to store just about anything else you could need. As haters of notebook track pads, we definitely see a full size mouse living in one of these pockets along with the charging cable for a notebook and some pens and papers.

That’s just us, however, so use the space as you see fit. Travel documents, a laser pointer for presentations, even your purse or wallet could fit inside should you want to ditch bigger bags and make this briefcase your single carry solution.

Despite the compact external dimensions of 6.5 X 37.5 X 27.5, there’s still an ample carrying capacity of six litres which is more than you’d expect at this size. While cutting down on unnecessary bulk that you have to carry, it has the added benefit (again) of aiding in travel.

With such a small bag accessing your tech during a flight in even the most cramped of planes becomes easier, and there’s another small but welcome feature on the opposite side of the bag in the form of a plastic window. Use this to slot in some kind of identification during travel, your bus / train card for the daily commute, a gym card for after work or even something like a licence for those who prefer a bike.

EVERKI really has thought of everything you could want in a package this small and with this case now available in South Africa, there’s no reason not to pick it up.
