Wix working on AI website builder run solely on prompts

  • Wix CEO and co-founder Avishai Abrahami shared his thoughts on the use of AI for the website builder, noting that more tools are on the way.
  • In future, users will be able to create templated websites using only prompts for an AI solution.
  • Sites can be designed “within seconds” according to Wix.

Many a technology company is looking at artificial intelligence this year, whether it be to develop solutions of its own or how to integrate AI into its current business model. Delving into the former is Wix, as CEO and co-founder Avishai Abrahami penned a blog post this week detailed how the website building platform is aiming to bring more AI tools to the fore.

Having worked with AI in some form or another since 2016, Wix is clearly ramping up its use and implementation across its services, announcing a number of new and forthcoming tools.

“We’re turning the corner on something amazing, and we’re only at the beginning of how AI will transform Wix and the website-building experience. There are a lot of fantastic things you should expect to see released in the next year,” enthused Abrahami.

“It seems only natural that you should be able to write a prompt on Wix to create a complete, full-blown website. That’s why I’m thrilled to reveal one of the most anticipated products at Wix, the AI Site Generator, which is truly the next generation of website creation. You are given a prompt to input the website’s intent, ChatGPT generates the text while we generate the website design and images,” he added.

No precise date has been mentioned for this tool, but it, along with an AI Page and Section Creator, Object Eraser, and an AI Assistant for business management, are expected to be officially in the coming year.

“What makes it groundbreaking is that it is not a template. In fact, it’s a unique website designed and tailor-made for you, according to your needs, generated with AI and advanced algorithms. The design and layout are completely fitted to the site’s content. It doesn’t stop here. When you want to edit your site, you can prompt the tool to make high-quality changes,” the CEO continued.

While these tools promise to make website creation even easier, it will be interesting to see how or indeed if said sites will be regulated or restricted in any way, especially as websites spun up by AI in order to hoover up online ad revenue has become a growing problem.

As we have seen with other companies that specialise in AI tools or services, they simply create the offerings. What others choose to do with it, seemingly fall outside their purview.
