- The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2023 IITPSA President’s Award.
- The newly extended deadline is 17:00 on 27th August 2023.
- The reason for the extension is to garner more nominations in the Dynamism in ICT Youth Award.
A regular fixture on the local IT industry calendar, the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) President’s Awards are looking for more nominations for the 2023 edition of the ceremony.
To that end, it has chosen to extend the deadline for nominations, with it now closing at 17:00 on 27th August 2023.
IITPSA explains that the reason behind the extension stems from a desire to garner more nominations in two categories in particular – Technology Excellence and Dynamism in ICT Youth.
The latter category is one which was recently added by IITPSA to the President’s Awards, with young IT professionals in particular being a focus for the organisation, especially given the brain drain happening across other industries and the need to imbue local businesses with critical skills via the next wave of employees and recent graduates.
“We have had a good response thus far, and the adjudication panel will have their work cut out for them in choosing winners from the nominees this year,” noted IITPSA president, Admire Gwanzura, in a press release sent to Hypertext.
“However, submissions have been slower for our Technology Excellence Award and Dynamism in ICT Youth Award. These awards raise the public profiles of the winners, which is good for their organisations and their personal career development. They enjoy a great deal of industry recognition and enhanced credibility because of their awards. We therefore urge IITPSA members and stakeholders in the IT, business and education sectors to nominate candidates who deserve recognition,” they highlighted.
The Dynamism in ICT Youth Award specifically recognises a person under the age of 25 for exceptional potential or achievement in the ICT sector. IITPSA says nominees should be nominated by educators, employers, colleagues, or mentors and may include students excelling in STEM studies.
