- Lara Croft, the legendary Tomb Raider is heading to current and future Call of Duty games as part of the latest DLC season.
- Croft comes to the series as an operator, with new weapons, new vehicle skin, and other goodies.
- Some fans on X are unhappy with her design in the game.
One of the most popular franchises in entertainment, not just gaming, has been hard at work emulating another. Call of Duty has been taking a page out of the Fornite playbook with guest characters making their way onto games like Modern Warfare II.
In the last season, Call of Duty brought in the likes of Snoop Dogg across games like Vanguard and Warzone as part of cosmetic packs, while Anaconda rapper Nicki Minaj became playable as a new operator. Minaj even comes with a new finisher move where she Bruce Lee-style squashes an enemy under her heel.
On Tuesday, Activision announced that Season 5 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone would be getting the Tomb Raider herself, Lara Croft, as a playable character.
Croft joins another rapper in 21 Savage as part of the Season 05 Reloaded pack. “Experience the legendary adventurer, famous archaeologist, and ultimate expert in the fields of archery, dual pistols, and other small-arms combat,” the company explains in the announcement.
Croft’s bundle comes with the Ice Axe melee weapon, a new “Mythic Defender” SMG, and her signature Mach-5 dual pistols. We also get a look at Croft in game.
A new Tomb Raider vehicle skin, as well as a loading screen, a sticker, and an emblem will also be added via the Season.
Call of Duty teased that Lara Croft would be heading to the game last week on its official X account, as part of a partnership with the Tomb Raider franchise.
The season she is bundled with is part of an extensive set of DLC, including new multiplayer maps, new missions, new weapons and more that will launch across different Call of Duty games at the same time.
This includes Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty Warzone, and Activision says that any DLC purchased for these games will carry on for the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare III which received a new trailer at this year’s Gamescom.

Of course, known for its community being paragons of fair behaviour and tolerance, Call of Duty fans have taken to X to voice their displeasure with the addition of Lara Croft.
Some dislike the design, which for all intents and purposes will only be seen in the select menu and when you’re close enough to another player using Croft.
If realism is just gonna be an excuse to make Lara Croft look dull, then bring back some style… please pic.twitter.com/aTi1Z5ffcQ

On the left is the modern version of Lara Croft for the decent, normal Democrat supporter gamer enthusiast.

On the right is the reactionary disgusting version of Lara Croft for the porn obsessed weirdo.

The discourse around the topic of what the Tomb Raider looks like in the game sent “Lara Croft” trending on the Musk-owned social media platform this morning. Despite a vocal minority, most are excited to play as the Tomb Raider in Call of Duty.
But she's ugly :D This is how she should look like, edit by Yohann Croft. And now she looks like Like Croft, not like a random, ugly girl. pic.twitter.com/rkPoRzdJDY

Despite what some fans think, the addition of Lara Croft to the game provides another high-profile cross-over for the franchise, which will accompany a vast amount of DLC announced for the season.
Expect Call of Duty to continue adding characters from other IP following the Tomb Raider addition. Perhaps we could see the likes of Nathan Drake in a feature season?
