Three ways to watch the Destiny 2: The Final Shape showcase live

  • Today Bungie is set to reveal the conclusion of its long running Light versus Darkness saga, The Final Shape.
  • The showcase will be livestreamed on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok with an emblem drop available for Twitch viewers.
  • The showcase will also reveal the next season in Destiny 2.

With it being August and the end of Destiny 2: Lightfall’s Season of the Deep, Bungie is hosting a showcase today that will highlight the forthcoming expansion, The Final Shape.

This expansion will be the finale of the so-called Light versus Darkness saga that has been the beating heart of Destiny’s story since the first game. The sequel continued that story with it really amping up in later expansions, ultimately introducing the big bad of the series – The Witness.

The story has reached a point where Guardians are about to face off with an enemy that is actually the collective conscious of an entire population of alien beings in search of bringing order to a chaotic universe.

The Final Shape will bring this conflict to its peak and today’s showcase will give players more information about what to expect.

The developer will be livestreaming the showcase from 16:30 SAST on three platforms namely:

The showcase will also feature the next season for the year which is scheduled to launch this afternoon at 19:00, servers permitting.

For the emblem hoarders Bungie will be giving away The Silhouette emblem as a Twitch drop for those who watch the stream for at least 30 minutes. You can find more information about claiming your own emblem here.

Today’s showcase will be hosted by streamers itstaylorliz and P!KAPEACH which will make for a nice change of pace. Of course the highlight of these showcases is one David Samuel who’s voice effects and unfettered excitement for the game is infectious.

This showcase is a big one for Bungie not only because it needs to make the expansion tempting enough to pre-order but it also has to win back the favour of its community. Since around May of this year more and more players are voicing their displeasure at Bungie’s ever expanding hunger to monetise every aspect of the game and ignore crucial activities.

While game director Joe Blackburn did respond to these criticisms, this showcase and the Q&A that takes place after it, has a lot riding on it.

No pressure Bungie.
