Trump’s first post on return to X is his mugshot

  • Former US President Donald Trump returned to X (formerly Twitter) for the first time since his account was reinstated in November of last year.
  • His return post was a mugshot supposedly taken as he was being booked at Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
  • He was being booked on charges of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 US Presidential elections.

The political fervour in the United States is ramping up as Republican party begins to find its candidate to go up against current US President Joe Biden for the 2024 elections.

His divisive predecessor, Donald Trump, was also in the news this week, as he was booked at Fulton County Jail in Georgia for conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 US elections. Trump also used the opportunity to return to one of his most used social media platforms – Twitter (now X), sharing a mugshot of his booking in the process.

In typical Trump fashion, he also continued to deny any wrongdoing when it comes to conspiring, adding emphatically in all caps, “ELECTION INTERFERENCE NEVER SURRENDER!” He also linked to a fundraising website asking for his supporters to make contributions.

“No matter how many vicious lies and attacks they throw our way, President Trump will NEVER SURRENDER our great country to the Left’s tyranny! But the Democrats will spend billions and billions of dollars to try and stop our movement, and we’re counting on YOUR support to finish what we started,” a pop-up notification on the site expalins.

“Together, we will DISMANTLE the Deep State, WIN BACK the White House, and SAVE AMERICA in 2024! Please consider completing your contribution today. Thank you!,” it concludes.

It will be interesting to see what the coming months will hold for Trump’s social media activities, especially as his account was suspended shortly after he lost the 2020 elections. Shortly thereafter, Twitter at the time, said his account would not be reinstated, but since Elon Musk took over the platform, a reinstating followed fairly quickly during November of last year.

Either way, Trump’s past antics on the platform point to an X user that will likely test the boundaries of the platform’s recent freedom of speech, not reach policies.
