Western Cape launches online resource hub for 2023 Matric exams

  • The Western Cape government has announced the launch of an an online resource hub for learners in the lead up to the 2023 Matric Exams.
  • The exams are now 40 days away, kicking off in the Western Cape on 30th October.
  • The online resource hub includes video lessons, past papers, subject study guides, study tips, and schedules.

Today marks 40 days until the 2023 Matric Exams begin in earnest on Monday, 30th October.

For most, if not all, leaners, preparations for the exams are also well underway, which is why the Western Cape government has announced the launch on an online resource hub to assist in said preparations.

“We have collected a wide variety of eLearning resources that our matrics can use for revision and exam practice, including video lessons, past papers, subject study guides, study tips, schedules for radio and TV revision broadcasts, and links to online tutoring,” the Western Cape government confirmed in a press release.

Along with the online resource hub, the Western Cape government has been issuing physical booklets throughout the province too.

“Our annual Matric Support booklet has been delivered to schools for over 60 000 candidates, and contains past papers in high enrolment subjects, the exam timetable, study tips, post-matric advice, and pass requirements,” it explained.

“It also provides candidates and their parents with all the details on when and how the results will be released, the dates for re-mark and re-check applications, and how to apply for supplementary exams after receiving their results if they would like to improve their marks,” it continued.

The Western Cape government is also cognisant of the fact that learners this year have had several issues to deal with. Where in recent years the pandemic and lockdown brought unique challenges, in 2023 the ongoing energy crisis and more recent taxi strikes have presented new hurdles needing to be negotiated.

“Our Grade 12 teachers have been doing a phenomenal job preparing their learners for the exams, despite challenges like the minibus taxi strike and loadshedding. We thank them for their hard work, and wish them all the best as they continue to ensure that learners are well-prepared for post-school education and employment opportunities,” the release concluded.

Access to the materials and resources from the online hub can be found here.

Best of luck to learners as they get ready for the 2023 Matric exams.
