Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout series gets release date for 2024

  • Amazon Prime Video has shared the release date of its upcoming Fallout live-action series on X.
  • The first episode in the series is slated to be available on 12th April next year.
  • The series will start in Vault 33, in the year 2077.

This year The Last of Us reigned supreme in terms of live-action videogame adaptations, and Amazon Prime Video is hoping that its Fallout series will do the same when it starts airing.

Speaking of which, this week Amazon Prime Video shared a teaser video on X detailing precisely when the series will land on its streaming platform. To that end, the first episode will arrive on 12th April next year.

Amazon has done a relatively good job of keeping the details of the series under wraps, with only a handful of set photos leaking online at the time of writing. As such, it will be interesting to see what direction the Fallout series will take, especially as the games have a very specific aesthetic, style, dark humour, and tone.

For now, all we do know about the Fallout series is that it will be set in the year 2077, and focus on the events that occur in Vault 33.

Shifting to the talent that will be seen on screen for this project, the list includes Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Moisés Arias, and Kyle MacLachlan, among others, although it’s not entirely clear whether the show will focus on a single protagonist or a range of survivors from the Vault.

As we saw with The Last of Us, HBO stuck fairly close to the source material, but was able to ground it in reality while slightly changing the origin of the cordyceps fungus to fit in with modern science.

Whether the producers of the Fallout series will take the same approach remains to be seen, but it’s clear post-apocalyptic series inspired by wildly popular videogame franchises are ripe for mining by Hollywood.
